Angel Gracia is a Spanish / American director living in Los Angeles.
From Prada to Nada, starring Camilla Belle, Alexa Vega, Wilmer Valderrama and Oscar-nominated Adriana Barraza, was his first feature film, produced by OddLot Entertainment and Lionsgate. The film won two Alma Awards and two Imagen awards, including Favorite movie and best actress and supporting actress.
Angel was a partner director at Ridley Scott and Associates for commercials during 7 years. His experience in advertising worldwide earned him numerous national and international awards, including 4 Cannes Advertising Festival's awards.
In 2000 he directed a TV movie for BMG / Ariola's entitled 5NY "The Spirit”, based on the real life of a group of young musicians signed to the label with designed to promote their record release. It was the first reality-based TV movie about musicians in the industry.
His career started when in the 90s he won a Student Academy Awards for his experimental short "The Three Cornered Hat” followed by MTV's first music video contest for Madonna’s “True Blue” single, which went to win an Emmy and become one of the network's most requested videos.
Geffen Records offered him a contract to direct in-house music videos. His success as a music video director working with celebrities such as Madonna, SNAP, Enigma and Hall & Oats, led him to directing commercials.
Angel has worked with international brands like Coca-Cola, Mercedes, Honda, Toyota, Ford, VW, Dodge, Chrysler, MasterCard, Coors, ING, Schweppes, Snickers and FIAT, some of which starred celebrities such Julianne Moore, Penelope Cruz, Val Kilmer, Terry Crews, Sofia Vergara, Eugenio Derbez and Hugh Laurie and sports stars such as Shaquille O’Neal, Kaká and Fabio Capello.
He was selected by the NBC Universal and the ABC Disney DGA directors programs. He also directed the NBCUniversal Diversity Talent Showcase under the mentorship of Executive Producer Felicia Henderson.
Angel is currently developing Latin-themed TV shows via The Tourist Collective, an association of Hispanic writers, directors, producers working on content co-sponsored by brands.
